GIVING BACK: Local Collaborative Hosts Community-Centered Event (PHOTOS)
Sponsored by Peanut and Zelb’s Produce Market and C.H.A.T., the collaborative effort donated fresh produce, hot meals, and more.
On a bright Saturday morning in July, a group of good-hearted people and organizations came together with one focus: to serve and address the needs of their community.
Enter the C.H.A.T. (Community Healing and Togetherness,) “a collaborative effort of neighbors and local organizations dedicated to boosting the physical, mental, social & environmental well-being of the communities they serve.”
Cosponsored with Peanut and Zelb’s Produce Market, the group gathered inside the AmenRA cafeteria in Norlina, where guests were greeted with tables filled with fresh produce to the left and immediately in front, an energetic line dancing class led by LaCaDees Health and Wellness.
After a fun, heart-pumping “workout,” community members were treated to a warm meal to take home. Outside, volunteers continued to give away the remaining produce to local residents who were driving down Walker Avenue.
In just a few hours, C.H.A.T. proved that when a community comes together with open hearts and willing hands, everyone leaves a little richer — in health, in spirit, and in connection.
