Dennis Snead Named VSU Alumnus of the Year

Virginia State University (VSU) has honored Dennis Snead as the 2024 Alumnus of the Year, recognizing his exceptional contributions to education, his unwavering dedication to his alma mater, and his remarkable service to the community. A two-time graduate of VSU, Snead earned his Bachelor of Music degree in 1980 and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision in 2000.

Snead’s dedication to Virginia State University is evident in his deep involvement with the Virginia State University Alumni Association (VSUAA). As a charter member and current president of the Greater Triangle Area Chapter (NC), he has led with extraordinary commitment and influence since 2020.

Under his leadership, the chapter grew from medium to mega status in just three years, becoming the largest chapter within the association. His innovative strategies have also helped the VSUAA achieve its largest membership in history. As Co-Chairperson of the VSUAA Membership Committee and the VSUAA Chapter Presidents Forum, he has been instrumental in the association’s success, earning him titles like Large Chapter President of the Year in 2022 and Mega Chapter President of the Year in 2024.

Dennis Snead lives by two guiding principles: “Be the change you want to see” and “Obstacles become opportunities under my watch.”
