Mariam Boyd Elementary Students To Unearth 20-Year Old Time Capsule 😮
What do you think would be in a 20-year old time capsule?
Where were you 20 years ago? 🤔
In 2002, I was a quiet high school senior, counting down the days to graduation, and saving every dime possible from my part-time job at Kerr Drug to treat myself to a solo excursion to Montego Bay. 🇯🇲
For Mr. Harms and Mr. TerBeek’s ambitious fifth graders at Mariam Boyd Elementary School in Warrenton, they were carefully selecting items for a time capsule as a class project to be opened at a later date.
Fast forward to 2022, and that day is almost here!
On Monday, March 14th at 1pm, residents brimming with curiosity will be able to watch either in-person on the school premises or via Zoom as Warren County Schools faculty and students retrieve this buried treasure.
Kendra Davis, Mariam Boyd school principal, is excited to see what will be revealed in the time capsule. “We are looking forward to the former students and Mariam Boyd staff to share the significance of the items.”
No word on which former fifth-graders (who would be in their early 30s today) will return for the special occasion to reminisce (and possibly retrieve their precious belongings 😉), but Mr. Harms, who has since moved to Boston, will be revisiting the school for the “unburial.”
What do you think was placed in the time capsule? What would YOU include in a time capsule today?
