The Warren County Health Department, Warren County Memorial Library, and several local partners came together on May 29 to unveil a new public health initiative aimed at saving lives and promoting safety in the community.

The newspaper box-style vending machine at the library is stocked with FREE risk reduction supplies for public use, which include Naloxone (Narcan) – an opioid overdose reversal medication, Fentanyl/Xylazine testing strips, and medication lockboxes.

The Warren County Parks and Recreation Department and the Parks and Recreation Commission are offering a mini-grant application process to support community partners to facilitate the development and support recreation amenities for Warren County residents at satellite locations. Recipients must be non-profit organizations located within Warren County.

This program will provide instruction and all supplies to make 2-3 crafts per week. Registration is being accepted through December 1st.

The fee is $5 per child for the three-week session. Limited space is available.

Youth ages 6-12 will enjoy organized games, crafts, movie, and more at the Warren County Senior Center located at 435 W. Franklin St. in Warrenton, NC.

Pizza and drinks will be provided as dinner for the youth that attend.

The program is offered on Friday, October 28th, from 5:30pm-10:30pm for only $5 per child. Register by October 14th.

Registration for cheerleading, soccer, flag football, and tackle football are now open for Fall Youth Sports Leagues for Warren County Parks and Recreation.

Register by August 8 for cheerleading, youth soccer, or flag football for only $10.
o Cheerleading: Ages 6-12
o Flag Football: Ages 6-12
o Soccer: Ages 5-18 (Registration for Start Smart Soccer for ages 3-5 will be August 1-31)

Register by August 1 for tackle football for $15

Warren County will accept registration for ages 10-12 to compile a team to play in the Halifax-
Northampton Youth Football League. This league requires a physical and the form can be obtained from the Parks and Recreation office at time of registration or by requesting it in advance to be emailed.

Physicals forms must be completed and submitted to the Parks and Recreation office by August 1.

Warren County Parks and Recreation announced yesterday that the pool at Magnolia Earnest Recreation Complex will officially open for the season on Friday, June 17th.

Also known as the Soul City pool, it will be open for 2-hour sessions: 10am-12pm, 12:30-2:30pm and 3pm-5pm.

Due to limited number of lifeguards, we will only be able to take 25 citizens for each 2-hour session. The fee is $1 for a 2-hour session. Concessions will be available for sale.

Starting Wednesday June 22nd, the pool will be open Wednesday through Sunday. The 2-hour sessions will be:
Wednesday/Thursday: 1pm-3pm, 3:30-5:30pm
Friday/Saturday: 10am-12pm, 12:30pm-2:30pm, 3pm-5pm
Sunday: 1:30pm-3:30pm, 4pm-6pm

Please note hours of operation and entrance numbers are subject to change based on weather and lifeguard availability.

The county department is currently recruiting certified lifeguards.
