Barnett, Williams Named Inaugural WCHS Student-Athletes of the Month

Excellence happens on and off the field.

Warren County High School has partnered with Doniphan Browder, an agent with the Warren County office of North Carolina Farm Bureau, to launch a new Student-Athlete of the Month Award.

The award recognizes students who demonstrate excellence beyond athletic competition, including character, teamwork, leadership, dedication, academic achievement, and responsibility.

Seniors Jeremiah Barnett and Samaiya Williams were named the program’s inaugural recipients and honored during a special presentation before this weekend’s WCHS Homecoming football game. Each student received a certificate and trophy.

Jeremiah Barnett

Barnett is a senior at Warren Early College High School and a member of the Warren County Eagles cross-country team. He was recognized for his strong character, teamwork, and academic success. In addition to competing in cross-country, Barnett is a member of the Eagles basketball team and Beta Club. His involvement in athletics and school activities reflects his commitment to balancing academics, leadership, teamwork, and personal responsibility. Barnett is the son of Jerry and Beverlie Barnett.

Samaiya Williams

Williams is a senior at Warren County High School and the inaugural female recipient of the award. She competes as a member of both the Eagles cheerleading squad and cross-country team. Participating in two sports during the same season requires discipline, organization, teamwork, and perseverance, qualities Williams has demonstrated throughout her senior year.

Williams is also recognized for her dependability, academic success, and leadership within the school community. She previously served as a Freshman Orientation Leader, helping welcome incoming students, and currently serves as a Senior Leader. Williams is the daughter of Samuel and Natasha Williams.

The new partnership between WCHS and the local North Carolina Farm Bureau office will continue highlighting student-athletes who represent Eagle Excellence in the classroom, in competition, and throughout the community.
