Christian Buffaloe, local Kyokushin Karate instructor in Roanoke Rapids & Arcola, has been invited by the International Kyokushin Karate Organization in Japan to compete in the “2025 Kyokushin Karate USWC Championships” in Los Angeles on February 2nd.

This tournament also serves as a qualifier for entry into the “Kyokushin Karate World Weight Category Championships” in Tokyo, Japan in April. This elite championships is held once every 4 years and features the top Kyokushin Karate fighters in the world in 4 Weight divisions. Buffaloe represent the USA, North Carolina, and Virginia.

Buffaloe is currently coached by his father/instructor, Sensei Kenny Buffaloe, the North Carolina Representative of Kyokushin Karate.

Christian Buffaloe is a two time Kyokushin Karate United States men’s champion winning in 2020 & 2023. He is a favorite in this year’s Championships in Los Angeles on February 2nd. Winning the top 3 places in LA secures entry into the “World Weight Category Championships” in April in Tokyo, Japan.

Christian Buffaloe will be featured on WITN TV 7 (an N.B.C. affliate) at the end of January on the Sports segment of the 6 and 11 o’clock news. He will do several Kyokushin Karate demonstrations and be interviewed about his upcoming participation in the “Kyokushin Karate USWC Championships” in Little Tokyo next month.

The Eagles’ performance electrified the crowd, who packed the stands to celebrate the annual tradition and watch the home team soar.

Registration is open until November 17th for winter youth cheerleading league for ages 6-12. The fee is only $10 per child. Teams will cheer for the youth basketball program held at John Graham Gym in Warrenton, NC.

Registration for cheerleading, soccer, flag football, and tackle football are now open for Fall Youth Sports Leagues for Warren County Parks and Recreation.

Register by August 8 for cheerleading, youth soccer, or flag football for only $10.
o Cheerleading: Ages 6-12
o Flag Football: Ages 6-12
o Soccer: Ages 5-18 (Registration for Start Smart Soccer for ages 3-5 will be August 1-31)

Register by August 1 for tackle football for $15

Warren County will accept registration for ages 10-12 to compile a team to play in the Halifax-
Northampton Youth Football League. This league requires a physical and the form can be obtained from the Parks and Recreation office at time of registration or by requesting it in advance to be emailed.

Physicals forms must be completed and submitted to the Parks and Recreation office by August 1.

For the second year in a row, Ride de Vine will be rolling through Warren County on Saturday, March 26th.

Described as a “fully-supported, noncompetitive ride,” cyclists will start/finish at Seven Springs Farm + Vineyard in Norlina, NC.

Participants will have the option to choose between three safe and scenic routes: 10-mile, 25-mile, and 55-mile loops.

The event features a socially-distanced, time-trial style start; chip timing with results and start/finish photos; SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles that patrol the clearly marked routes; and well stocked rest areas.

An energetic group of 300 cyclists of all ages and from all over the world participated in the inaugural ride. When asked about what they enjoyed about it, several riders appreciated the clear directions for their respective routes and enjoyed viewing the beautiful country setting, some expressing interest in returning to Warren County for leisure and to explore more of the area.

And the best part about Ride de Vine…

The event proceeds will support the Jack & Jill of America Foundation, an organization that helps children and families.
