Please come see this wonderful historic adventure! Whether you are an avid snowmobile fan, polar expedition enthusiast, history buff, or just curious, see the film on the large screen and enjoy the concessions of LCAC! After the film, I will be available to try to answer questions and show you personal memorabilia from the expedition that was my father’s.

some back story:

My dad, Jean-Luc Bombardier with the Plaisted Polar Expedition made the trek to the north pole on Bombardier Skidoos reaching 90° N on April 19, 1968.

1st to reach the pole, congratulations to Jerry Pitzl, Ernst Michel, John Moriarty, and those who have passed: Jean-Luc Bombardier, Ralph Plaisted, Walt Pederson, Art Aufderheide, Don Powellek, Weldy Phipps, Col Andy Horton, George Cavouras, Bumps Woolsey.

After an unsuccessful, but fantastic attempt in 1967,(covered by CBS journalist Charles Kuralt and written in his book https://www.amazon.com/Top-World-Adventures-Misadventures-Expedition/dp/B0006BU5NA), this time starting earlier and at Canada’s Ward Hunt Island on Ellesmere Island, Plaisted began the 412 miles traverse on March 8, and successfully reached the pole 90°N on April 19, 1968, confirmed by the USAF on April 20).

Confirmation by National Geographic that the Plaisted Polar Expedition of 1968 was the first to travel across the surface to the north pole was HUGE. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082XLHP8G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_trfxEbDXPC8ZT?fbclid=IwAR0Vtb5wU_Z98n_3QeIrpixEWkNj1rrWuK_0X_Sfu0vomyf5XGxnvUvHi24
another great article featuring Jerry Pitzl: https://www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_news/last-of-the-ice-party-that-made-it-to-the-pole-marks-milestone/article_d67a1715-c671-51af-ae7f-15cef20024ec.html

we always knew this, but now the world can too. changing the history books will be another project. a fun article here: https://artfulliving.com/plaisted-polar-expedition-north-pole-adventure-travel/
