Lakeland Cultural Arts Community presents this hilarious play pitting a father-in-law against a mother in a comedic succession of squabbles. Jerry Sloan is a successful writer of advertising jingles married to an equally successful lawyer. Living with the happy couple is the not so happy Abe Dreyfus, Jerry’s curmudgeon of a father in law. Abe is a funny guy to the audience, not to Jerry. The situation is exacerbated when Jerry’s mother Mildred loses her house in a fire and needs a place to stay. Abe and Mildred can’t stand each other, which leads to hilarious confrontations as they try to learn to put up with each other.

Kiki Wynns is a rising star in comedy, who has experienced a quick rise to success across NC and beyond. After a 20+-year career as a psychologist, she took a crazy bet a few years ago and leapt into a new career in comedy. After only three open mics, Kiki quickly began booking official gigs and has since graced stages at the NC Comedy Festival and opened for Craig Shoemaker multiple times along the East Coast. Kiki has a mission to elevate the comedy scene for women and is the founder and star of a wildly popular comedy show, Ladies Laugh Lounge. After selling out its debut show, Kiki’s Ladies Laugh Lounge is a popular regular show at Goodnights Comedy Club and beyond. Recently gaining popularity in Los Angeles, Kiki is known for her hilarious observations of human behavior, her outspoken love of being naked, and for working out her emotional issues in a group therapy session with the audience. Randa, a perfectionist and workaholic, is struggling to cope with a surprise career derailment that, unfortunately, reveals that she has no life and no idea how to get one. Dot, still reeling from her husband’s recent demise and the loss of their plans for an idyllic retirement, faces the unsettling prospect of starting a new life from scratch—and all alone. Earthy and boisterous Marlafaye, a good ol’ Texas gal, has blasted into Savannah in the wake of losing her tom-cattin’ husband to a twenty-three-year-old dental hygienist. The strength of her desire to establish a new life is equaled only by her desire to wreak a righteous revenge on her ex. Also new to town, Jinx, a spunky ball of fire, offers her services as a much-needed life coach for these women. However, blinded by her determination and efforts to get their lives on track, she over-looks the fact that she’s the one most in need of sage advice.

Over the course of six months, filled with laughter, hilarious misadventures, and the occasional liquid refreshment, these middle-aged women successfully bond and find the confidence to jumpstart their new lives.

Together, they discover lasting friendships and a renewed determination to live in the moment—and most importantly, realize it’s never too late to make new old friends.
