NC Archives Program – WPA Slave Narratives

Adrienne Berney, Outreach Coordinator for the NC State Archives – a part of the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, will be sharing stories and experiences collected from formerly enslaved individuals by the Works Progress Administration in the 1920s and 1930s. Their experiences – in their own words – provide deep insights into the darkest part of American history and shed light on their individual stories of survival and resilience.
