First Friday Main Street Poetry
WAM First Friday Main Street Poetry is one of the longest running poetry events in Eastern N.C. and South-side Virginia.
We invite poets, writers, and performers of any genre to join us to listen, read, and share works in progress.
As always There is no charge, but donations are greatly appreciated. Jazzy selections for the night featuring all women: Badu, Aretha, Bessie Smith… will be rendered by our own Mr. Sterling.
We always try to have appetizers and a complementary water or wine…so come have a cookie, a sip, and a listen.
If you have read this far (Hot-dog)) the theme for this First Friday is “All about Women” to celebrate National Women’s Month.
So we are encouraging poetry about the influential women in our world and lives, past or present,
poems that have no choice but to invite critical thinking, and honor the feminine battles for equality.
As always one can…stretch it out.
Our motto is if you hear something you don’t like/agree with, “Don’t hate the poet, hate the poem.”
We will/do practice Covid Protocols; i.e. Spray mist, sanitizers, Mask when not reading.
