First Friday Main Street Poetry: Critical Thoughts
WAM First Friday Main Street Poetry is one of the longest running poetry events in Eastern N.C. and South-side Virginia.
We invite poets, writers, and performers of any genre to join us to listen, read, and share works in progress. π€
As always There is no charge, but donations are greatly appreciated. Jazzy selections for the night will be rendered by our own Mr. Sterling. We always try to have appetizers and a complementary water or wine…so come have a cookie, a sip, and a listen. π΅
If you have read this far the theme for First Friday, this Black History Month is “Critical Thoughts”
So we are encouraging poetry about critical thinking, or poems that have no choice but to invite critical thoughts; about inclusion, dismissals, race- relations, voting, voting rights, racism(s), American solutions, Civil Wars, etc…stretch it out.
Our motto if you hear something you don’t like/agree with, “Don’t hate the poet, hate the poem.”
We will/do practice COVID Protocols; i.e. Spray mist, sanitizers, Mask when not reading.
