Unveiling and Dedication of the Dr. L. Julian Haywood Historical Marker
A remarkable event will occur in Warrenton, North Carolina at the corner of West Franklin and Haley Streets on October 26, 2022 at 2:00 PM. You are cordially invited to attend the unveiling and dedication of the Dr. L. Julian Haywood Historical Marker.
He was a Distinguished Alumnus of Hampton University and Howard University and received career and achievement awards from the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, and American College of Physicians. Dr. Haywood conducted pioneering cardiovascular research, developed the first digital heart rhythm monitor, and established the coronary care unit at the Los Angeles County Hospital-USC Medical Center which was renamed for him in 2016. Also, Dr. Haywood helped to establish and led the Sickle Cell Anemia Research Foundation and was a founding member of the Association of Black Cardiologists.
There is no way that this marker can address all of his accomplishments in the medical field. However, this is our way of showing respect and gratitude for his research in cardiology, hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, and sickle cell anemia.
We invite you to be present for the unveiling and dedication of this marker. A reception will follow the ceremony at the Warrenton Rural Fire Department on South Main Street.
Kindly RVSP to the address above or via email to jafranklin1@embarqmail.com no later than October 19th.
