HERITAGE QUILTERS: The Soul of Quilts- Comfort, Memories, and Stories
Quilts have always held a special place in African Americans’ traditional material culture, carrying memories and stories in cloth from old clothes and household fabrics. They served many purposes, including covering beds, shielding windows and walls to keep cold air at bay, and protecting precious possessions as people moved from place to place.
Today, the Heritage Quilters strive to preserve and document Warren County’s quilts and quilting traditions. From February 24th to 28th, Warren County Memorial Library will exhibit a collection of traditional and narrative quilts produced by the Heritage Quilters.
