DESCRIPTION:WAM First Friday Main Street Poetry is one of the longest running poetry events in Eastern N.C. and South-side Virginia.\nWe invite poets, writers, and performers of any genre to join us to listen, read, and share works in progress.\nAs always There is no charge, but donations are greatly appreciated. Jazzy selections for the night featuring all women: Badu, Aretha, Bessie Smith… will be rendered by our own Mr. Sterling.\nWe always try to have appetizers and a complementary water or wine…so come have a cookie, a sip, and a listen.\nIf you have read this far (Hot-dog)) the theme for this First Friday is “All about Women” to celebrate National Women’s Month.\nSo we are encouraging poetry about the influential women in our world and lives, past or present,\npoems that have no choice but to invite critical thinking, and honor the feminine battles for equality.\nAs always one can…stretch it out.\nOur motto is if you hear something you don’t like/agree with, “Don’t hate the poet, hate the poem.”\nWe will/do practice Covid Protocols; i.e. Spray mist, sanitizers, Mask when not reading.\n
