DESCRIPTION:The Eaton Ferry Working Group in collaboration with University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Research Labs of Archaeology are pleased to announce a town hall meeting to provide an update on the ongoing efforts to respectfully reintern the remains of 17 enslaved individuals. These remains were exhumed during the construction of Lake Gaston near the Eaton Ferry Bridge, and the committee has been working diligently to ensure they are given a proper and dignified resting place.\nThe town hall meeting will take place on July 30, 2024, at 6:30 PM at the Warren County Memorial Library Community Room.
